Legal History IndicJoomla! project was conceived while the team was working on Arya Samaj
of Southern California website. There
was a need for publishing Veda shlokas in Sanskrit on the website. That
got us researching on the issue of publishing Hindi/Devanagari on the web
dynamically and guess what we found? There was nothing out there. So, we planned
to do it ourselves, and since the Arya Samaj SOCAL website was based on Mambo (Joomla!
was not there yet...) we started with Mambo. Mambo then gave birth to Joomla!
and the team decided to move on to Joomla! to support the Open Source Matters
foundation. This project then was named, IndicJoomla!.
In the meantime the requirement of publishing shlokas from the Arya
Samaj SOCAL website was dropped. Since there was no complete CMS solution to
publish dynamic web pages in Hindi/Devanagari, we decided to continue with the
